Twitter Reacts To Harriet Tubman Replacing Andrew Jackson On The $20 Bill

On this day, April 20, 2016, Twitter rejoiced like never before when it was announced one of the the nation’s most fearless abolitionist Harriet Tubman will replace former president (and slave owner) Andrew Jackson on the twenty dollar bill.

According to the New York Times, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is expected to roll out the new Tubman $20 in 2020 just in time for the 100th anniversary of Woman’s Suffrage and the 19th Amendment.

Yet, despite the four year wait, Twitter simply couldn’t help but react to the news, and in true fashion spoke its peace. Some Tweets were thoughtful, others believing the historic commemoration of Tubman doesn’t eradicate the country’s problems with race, while some Tweets were just plain hilarious.

Check out the best Twitter had to offer.

Yes, Harriet Tubman on the $20 is dope.

Yes, our system is still super messy & flawed.

No, racism isn’t over.

It’s a complex victory.

Ok, who is working on a Broadway Musical about Harriet Tubman? Maybe we can get her moved up to a hundo.

Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill is going to help me save money. I’m not going to want to spend it. This is history.

I’m still processing this Harriet Tubman news.

One thing I’m sure of: I’m slapping those joints down like dominoes when I spend them.
