Recovering from divorce is not for the faint of heart. It goes without saying that the year 2023 arguably saw the most divorces in Hollywood known to history. The world bore witness to Hugh Jackman's divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness (which was considered one of the biggest of 2023), Britney Spears and Sam Asghari's extremely messy divorce that underwent a strenuous settlement case, Ariana Grande's divorce from Dalton Gomez (whose settlement has interesting stipulations), and more.

On this list of 2023 divorces unfortunately included Sister, Sister star Tia Mowry and her divorce from Brotherly Love star Cory Hardrict. This divorce shocked many fans, seeing that the couple were together for a total of 14 years. This time frame doesn't include the six years they spent courting each other, according to Sportskeeda.

After their divorce, all eyes were on Tia Mowry to see how she was coping, and from what fans and onlookers can see, she's on a long road to healing, but she's simultaneously thriving.

One of the most life-changing ones is the famous guide to manifestation, 'The Secret.'

The first step Mowry took after her divorce from her partner of 14 years was to regularly seek help via therapy. According to BET, Mowry's divorce wasn't the spark that caused her to go to therapy, but it was something she instantly knew she needed in order to help her on her healing journey.

Tia Mowry's therapy sessions allowed her to dive deep and unpack the emotionally draining experience she was undergoing. This eventually led her to be open and honest about her self-love journey, something she had neglected for decades due to her nature of being a people-pleaser.

Mowry revealed this fact during an interview with Amadeus Thomas on his podcast Sacred Light, saying, "I am a huge people-pleaser. At a very young age, I was taught to make people laugh... one of my friends... I remember he had asked me about a year ago, he was like 'Tia, I challenge you, who are you if you are not?'" This question prompted Mowry to reflect and ask herself who she was once she removed the labels of mom, wife, sister, daughter, and the like.

"And I didn't know. I did not know at all. I found my identity in others, meaning I felt validated on how someone else felt, so if I was making everybody else happy, then I succeeded."

The twin star then went on to explain that this drained her cup completely and made her put off certain things like traveling because traveling felt selfish. This realization not only put her on her path of self-love and healing, but it also fueled her passions as she learned to be a single woman again.

Tia Mowry continued to bring fans joy with her YouTube cooking series, Tia Mowry's Quick Fix, along with appearing in more film roles and starting her own hair care business following her split.

Why Did Tia Mowry And Cory Hardrict Get A Divorce?

Years leading up to her unexpected divorce, Tia Mowry sought therapy after two traumatic events that occurred in her family, according to BET. These events had nothing to do with her marriage at the time. However, they did spark curiosity in Mowry and forced her to face her personal reality.

"I asked myself, 'Tia, are you happy?' And I said, I truly need to find my peace and my happiness. That's when I went to therapy. I just started to begin to blossom, evolve, learn, and grow. That was like the aha moment."

This aha moment led Mowry to take a hard look at her happiness, which supposedly wasn't being contributed to by her marriage to Cory Hardrict. Neither one has disclosed the specifics, but Mowry made it known that it had to do with her dissatisfaction and desire to set an example for her children. "A part of my decision was also for them," Mowry said, referring to her children. "For them seeing their mother walk in truth, I feel like it's a great lesson for them because it was not an easy decision."

Are Tia Mowry And Cory Hardrict On Good Terms After Their Divorce?

According to US Weekly, Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict decided to share joint custody of their two kids.

This decision was also attached to boundaries and agreements the former couple made regarding dating and relationships. In a court document, Hardrict and Mowry agreed that Cairo and Cree can only meet a romantic partner after a six-month exclusive relationship, in addition to the restraint of said love interest to spend the night when the kids are present.

With that being said, there's no bad blood between the two.

"Cory and I — we're doing great. I talk to him every single day. We tell each other [that] we love each other every single day. He is family, and he will always be family and a part of our lives forever."

As Tia Mowry continues to embark on her self-love and healing journey, fans are wishing her nothing but the best.
