Taylor Swift made it clear she’s not playing around when a Twitter account began tracking the routes her private jet takes, allowing fans to see in real-time where the singer – or at least someone close to her – is traveling to.

However, after Swift threatened a lawsuit against the account, which is run by a college student, the alleged stalker is speaking out to defend his right to share what’s already public information.

Taylor Swift Fixed Her Teeth, But Fans Are Worried Over Her Smile

Earlier in February, Taylor’s attorney, Katie Wright Morrone, accused Jack Sweeney, a computer programming student at the University of Central Florida, of violating Taylor’s privacy. The lawyer argued that Sweeney utilized publicly available flight data to monitor the movements of various high-profile celebrities, including Swift. Morrone further asserted that Sweeney's actions constituted "stalking and harassing behavior," citing his consistent dissemination of real-time and precise information regarding the singer's whereabouts to the public.

Taylor May Not Have A Case Against Jack Sweeney After All

It took a while, but Sweeney has finally responded to the accusations. Taking to his X account (formerly known as Twitter), the student refuted the claims while subtly jabbing at the popstar.

He shared a screenshot of his own lawyer’s response to Taylor’s legal threat as well as as a sly reference to one of the singer's songs, stating, "Look What You Made Me Do."

“There is nothing unlawful about Sweeney’s use of publicly accessible information to track private jets, including those used by public figures like Taylor Swift,” his attorney’s letter read. “Further, your letter’s tone of alarm is unfounded. Our clients’ website only provides the location of private jets using publicly available information. That information poses no threat to Ms. Swift’s safety.”

Sweeney previously had a similar interaction with Elon Musk, after the billionaire tried to get the student to stop tweeting about his private jet usage, even threatening him with a lawsuit, which eventually went nowhere, as the information Sweeney reports on is already available to the public.

Taylor Has Had A Lot Of Recent Stalker Experiences

While Sweeney’s actions may not be tantamount to stalking, Taylor has had her fair share of scary run-ins recently, which may explain why she reacted so strongly to Sweeney reporting on her whereabouts.

In January, a man was arrested at Swift’s New York City condo after attempting to make contact with her. Even after being released to jail, he went straight back to Taylor’s residence, leading to another arrest.

Unfortunately, even before the January incidents, Taylor has experienced several unsettling incidents involving individuals displaying concerning behavior, In 2020, Eric Swarbrick was taken into custody for sending threatening emails to her record label. Then, in July 2022, Joshua Christian was apprehended for trying to break into her Tribeca apartment.

Adding to the list of worrisome encounters, in May 2023, 36-year-old Mitchel Taebel was arrested for trespassing at Swift's Nashville residence, underscoring yet another alarming incident in the singer's history of dealing with stalkers.

Taylor is continuing with her Eras tour now that the Super Bowl is behind her and Travis Kelce – he’s even reportedly going to join Swift in Australia and Europe for a portion of her tour, despite his family expressing their own concerns for the couple’s safety given their high profile romance.
