According to Forbes, she is the highest-paid actress in the world in 2019, having amassed a total of some $56 million. She was also top of the list in 2018. She insists on parity with her male co-stars. And, more to the point, she gets it. Here are 10 of Scarlett Johansson's highest-grossing films. Catsuit and all.

Avengers: Endgame (2019) - $2,798 Billion

After the shock and awe of Avengers: Infinity War, the entire universe is pretty much in ruins. Garnering a few allies, the Avengers get together one more time so they can undo Thanos' devastation.

But, shock and horror, Black Widow is killed, having sacrificed herself in an effort to put things right. Don't worry, Scarlett and her catsuit will be back. There's a prequel coming out in 2020. There's more good news:  Avengers: Endgame is the highest-grossing film of all time with grosses of $2.798 billion.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - $2.0 Billion

It's a meeting of two worlds. Avengers: Infinity War gives us Peter "Star-Lord" Quill (Chris Pratt) flying in to aid the Avengers, singing loud and clear. It marks the first time the Guardians of the Galaxy crew hook up with the Avengers in the MCU.  Black Widow is mostly in rescue mode.

Critics were virtually unanimous in calling it a great, funny, action-packed film. Audiences agreed. The film grossed a whopping $2 billion at the box office. Black Widow was in blonde mode for this one. Of course, Chris Evans played Captain America.

The Avengers (2012) - $1.5 Billion

Raking in some $1.5 billion at the box office,  The Avengers kicked off the franchise in some style. We enter the world of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) its director seeks to put together the ultimate good-guy team of superheroes to counter Thor's nasty brother Loki's (Tom Hiddlestone) theft of an energy cube.

Cue Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and, of course, our Scarlett as Black Widow. It's going to be a heck of a battle, trust us.

Avenger: Age Of Ultron (2015) - $1.4 Billion

Robert Downey Jr. plays Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man). All he wants to do is to keep the peace. But, sorry to say things fall apart pretty quickly. He has no other choice but to put out a call to The Avengers to ride in and try to save the day. The enemy in this one is Ultron, a technological form of terror that has one goal in mind. And what would that be? The extinction of human beings. What else?

The film is also noteworthy for introducing Quicksilver and the Scarlett Witch to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  A tried and true formula worked once again, and the film made $1.4 billion at the box office.

Captain America: Civil War (2016) - $1.1 billion

Our last billion-dollar grossing film on this list is Captain America: Civil War. With all the death and destruction going on in the MCU, it had to happen sooner or later. The actions of the Avengers are called into question by the government, who want to impose super-hero rules and regulations.

No way says, Captain America. Yes please says, Iron Man. And the disagreement escalates into a real civil war. Black Widow has to choose between the two men. Of course, she picks Iron Man. That's probably why Captain Rogers is a little intense. The movie grossed $1.1 billion at the box office.

Captain America: Winter Soldier (2014) - $714.4 Million

After the catastrophic Battle of New York in 2012's The Avengers, Steve Rogers (Captain America) is licking his wounds and living in Washington D.C. Of course, up pops another evil conspiracy to wreck the world. He is forced to act. The dead of a metaphorical winter threatens to overtake him.

This time around, it's Black Widow who is at his side, together with a new ally Falcon (actor Anthony Mackie). There's a plot afoot that Captain America and his allies are determined to turn on its head.  A lot of twists and turns and surprising developments make this a satisfying film. It made $714.4 million.

Iron Man 2 (2010) - $623.9 Million

Welcome to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Scarlett. She played Tony Stark's assistant Natalie Rushman. Just like Tony is Iron Man Natalie is really Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow. Tony has gone public and told the world he is Iron Man.

But the reactor that keeps him alive is poisoning him. In a funk, he promotes his assistant, Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) to CEO of Stark Industries and hires Natalie Rushman to replace her. Tony is told Natalie is really Black Widow. And, at the end of the day, Tony solves his reactor problem. The movie grossed $623.9 million.

Lucy (2014) - $458.8 Million

Bye-bye to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for our last three entries. Scarlett plays Lucy, a happy student with a rat of a boyfriend who gets her to deliver a package to some guys. Because they want to turn her into a drug mule, she is surgically implanted with a chemical. It leaks into her body, giving her super-hero powers.

The bad guys are in hot pursuit. Lucy was something of a hit, making $458.8 million on a production budget of $40 million. Lucy ends up, with her super-human abilities, giving as good as she gets. Think angry warrior.

He's Just Not That Into You (2009) - $178.8 Million

Think okayish rom-com. The premise? A bunch of young male and female friends living in Baltimore bounce off one another, some becoming lovers, some not. Jennifer Aniston is Beth. Ben Affleck is commitment-shy Neil. Mary (Drew Barrymore) has a lot of male friends who are totally supportive. The only thing is they are not straight.

Scarlett Johansson is Anna who has a married admirer. Well, you probably get a general idea. Like we said: Okayish rom-com. It did pretty well at the box office, scoring $178.8 million at the box office.

Ghost In The Shell (2017)  - $169.8 Million

We'll tell you upfront that live-action  Ghost in the Shell had a budget of $110 million and only made $169.8 million. As a rule of thumb, assume movies need to take in about twice their budget to break even. That means Ghost in the Shell was not a great success.

The casting of Johansson as the cyborg soldier protagonist had fans of Japanese manga up in arms. How dare they cast a white actress in the role. Why could they use an Asian actress? The bad publicity probably didn't help the box office a little bit. Plus, the reviews weren't all that great. Ouch.
